Christmas with the Veterans, December 3, 2005.


Our Post along with District 9 Officers and other area Posts met with the Department Commander Larry White to host the 75 % Membership Drive with a “Christmas with the Vets” Program at the Alexander “Sandy” Nininger Veterans' State Nursing Home on Saturday, December 3 rd . The Nursing Home has 120 residents and we will need to provide to accommodate both residents and guests. The program started at 11:00 am with the Posting of Colors by the Miramar JROTC and the Ft. Lauderdale Civil Air Patrol had volunteers helping with passing out lunched and gifts to the Vets, “Christmas with the Vets” provided hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, slaw, and condiments with sodas and beer to the nursing home residents. All the veterans and friends sang music and had lots of fun during this occasion.
Weston Civil Air Patrol Awards Night, December 10, 2005.


On December 10th, Commander Roy Schofield and Adjutant Joe Motes presented the Americanism Medals to the follow Weston Civil Air Patrol cadets during their awards ceremonies. Receiving the Gold Medal is Cadet C/2Lt Jonathan Deng (not pictured), the Silver Medal is Cadet C/CMSgt Amanda Lenardson and receiving the Bronze Medal is Cadet C/SMSgt Thomas Lynch.
Four Chaplains Memorial Service, Sunday February 12, 2006.

On February 12, 2006, Commander Roy Schofield and Adjutant Joe Motes attended the Four Chaplains Memorial Service held at First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale. The service was attended by every JROTC unit in Broward County, also attending were members of the local American Legion Posts, VFW Posts and the Marine Corps League. Other units in attendance was the Broward County Sheriff Color Guard.
Post 385 Installation of Officers held March 21, 2006.
I would like to start off by thanking 9th District Commander Gene Campbell and the 9th District American Legion Staff for coming and installing our Post 385 Officers on Tuesday evening March 21, 2006. I would also like to thank the Post Officers and Post Members and there families that also came out to enjoy this merit and historic event being the first installation for Post 385 Weston, Florida.

Broward School Superintendent's Pass in Review, May 3rd, 2006.


The Broward County Superintendent's Pass in Review began with the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team. Post 385 was in attendance with members Roy Schofield, Dennis Teitge, Joe Motes, Alberto Darby and John Johnson.

On May 28, 2006, Post 385 presented the Gold Americanism Award to Cadet Ryan McDaniel (top left picture), the Silver Americanism Award to Cadet David Quintaro (top right picture) and the Bronze Americanism Award to Cadet Christopher Williams (above middle picture). The awards were presented by Adjutant Joe Motes.
