Republican Club of Century Village

The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans' organization. Focusing on service to veterans, service members and communities, the Legion currently has 2.4 million members in 14,000 posts worldwide and is the largest wartime veterans' service organization.
POST 385 - Pembroke Pines, Florida
POST 385 was founded in 2005 and currently has over 250 member veterans from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces who served during WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Grenada, Iraq and Afghanistan.
The post serves the western Broward County communities of Pembroke Pines, Miramar, Weston, Southwest Ranches, Davie and Cooper City.

Veterans Serving Veterans Since 1919
Supporting our active military and
promoting a strong national security…
We work to insure that the US will honor its obligations to all service members, veterans, military retirees and their families.
Advocating for a strong national security.
Aiding families of active military in times of need and assistance, especially when they serve in combat.
Providing “care” packages for military units and individuals serving in combat zones.
Monetary support for the Guardian Angels for Soldier's Pets .
Monetary support for the USO .
And anything we are called to do in support of our military…..

Taking Care of Veterans…
Support for Alexander Nininger State Veterans Home and its 120 residents.
Support for the Fisher House at the Miami VA Hospital for use by families of military and veterans undergoing treatment.
Volunteer program at Broward County VA Clinic in Sunrise, FL – over 2500 hours in 2010.
Providing application assistance to veterans applying for benefits with the VA through the Legion Service Officer program.
Providing transportation and appointment assistance to veterans.
Providing financial assistance to veterans and returning military suffering from financial hardship.
Assisting veterans and their families with final arrangements.
Participating in veteran funeral services.
Financial and volunteer support for Wreaths Across America program at local veteran cemeteries.
Financial support for the Wounded Warriors Project.

Promoting Patriotism and Honor…
Encouraging an appreciation for the United States of America and for the Flag of the United States.
Supporting, upholding, defending and teaching the tenets of the US Constitution.
Participation in the annual Four Chaplains Memorial Services at USCG Station, Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Distributing Poppies on each Memorial Day and Veterans Day to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country and our freedoms.
Participating in local community events honoring veterans and active military such as, Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Veterans Day and many others.
Supporting and promoting the City of Pembroke Pines, FL Veterans Memorial and 9/11 Memorial to be dedicated on 9/11/2011.
Appearances of our members at local schools to relate their wartime experiences to our children so that they will understand the role of the military and not forget the sacrifices of so many Americans over the many wars in which veterans have served.
Promotion of Americanism within the local community and among youth.

Participation and support for the American Legion Boys State Programs.
Participation and support for the American Legion Oratorical Contest . 2009 Florida state finalist (4 th Place) sponsored by Post 385.
